As the beauty industry increasingly embraces soft, clean, and natural aesthetics, many clients opt for a more understated–dare we say, demure approach, often shying away from traditional extensions altogether. After all, losing clients is not an option!
Brown lash extensions lie in their ability to seamlessly blend with a client’s natural hair and lash color, resulting in a set that enhances without overwhelming. This softer option provides a more gentle, elegant look than traditional black lashes, making it ideal for those who desire a subtle enhancement.

Another exciting option gaining traction is colored lash extensions, such as vibrant blue lashes. Lash Mapping Tips for Coloured Lash Sets:
- To create an ombre effect, consider blending two or more colours seamlessly along the lash line. Start with applying darker shade lashes to the natural lashes on the bottom layer and gradually transition to a lighter hue as you work towards the top layer for a mesmerizing gradient look. You can also consider using our kaio lash adhesive on our brown lashes as a way to achieve an ombre lash style.
- With such a wide variety of shades comparable to natural hair colour, we can perfectly match just about all clients to truly embrace their natural beauty by accentuating their eyelashes with extensions that match their natural colour.
- For adding pops of colour, strategic placement is key. Focus on accentuating the outer corners or inner corners of the eyes to make them pop. Choose the desired area where your client would like a pop of colour and be sure to place a few coloured individual classic extensions or a few fans beside each other to make sure the colour doesn’t get lost in the other lashes and remains visible.
ANGEL LASHES
Now let’s jump into a world of celestial beauty as we unravel the enchanting sight of Angel Lashes, the trending lash style captivating lash artists in 2024. These lashes are reminiscent of fluttering angel wings, and bring a touch of whimsy and grace to any set. If classic and volume lashes had a baby, it would look like a set of angel lashes. Unlike a hybrid set, this style is created using closed spikes versus a hybrid set of 50/50 classic and volume lashes. Angel lashes are created using multiple diameters versus a hybrid using classic and volume lashes,
Angel lashes put a twist on the traditional classic and volume style while being visually different from a hybrid set. Angel lashes are designed to provide a soft, feathery light appearance. The application process includes using light 2D lashes as opposed to 4-5D creating a soft and wispy lash set.
Lash Mapping Tips for Angel Lash Sets:
- It’s recommended you use .03 diameter volume lashes to create the spikes. Using .03 lashes will help you customize various effects throughout the lash set. Since .03 is so light, you can play around and add longer spikes without worrying about too much weight on the natural lash. Making .03 lashes the perfect diameter for wispy angel lash sets.
- Consistency in the thickness of your spikes is crucial for creating that perfect wispy, angel set. If you choose to vary the thickness of your spikes, be sure to place the thicker spikes on the top layer to give a bolder texture.
- Lashing in layers is key to creating wispy, angel lashes! To achieve maximum wispy effect, you should keep your top layer spikes at least 2mm-3mm longer than the middle and bottom layers. For example, if the length placed on the bottom layer is 9mm, up the length to 10mm-11mm for the middle layer, and up again to 11mm-12mm for the top layer.
- Keep in mind that you can always stagger your lengths. Especially if your client is looking for a longer length. Apply the longer lengths to the natural lashes able to support them and lower the length for the natural lashes that need lighter extension.
Even with Angel sets, they’re not a “one size fits all.” Be sure to communicate with your clients and even use reference photos to ensure you and your client are on the same page when it comes to their desired look.
WET LOOK LASHES
Do you remember a time you stepped out of the shower and thought…my lashes look BEAUTIFUL!
Well, that is the same look as the popular Wet Look lashes, designed to mimic the glistening effect of dew-kissed lashes. This trend brings a unique twist to traditional lash styles, offering a contemporary take on classic glamour.
Mapping Tips for Wet Look Lash Sets:
- 0.03 or 0.05 diameter lashes are recommended to create the spikes. This will help keep the weight of the spikes light. The wet-look lashes are typically 100% spikes.
- Applying a primer to (the tips of) the extensions will help keep the tips together, making it easier to pick up.
- Following the same technique as fanning a volume fan on a lash strip, instead, you only slightly fan the tips, almost keeping the lashes as a “closed fan.”
- Then, apply each spike and wrap the bases around the natural lash. The wet look truly is a denser and more textured classic lash look.
ANIME LASHES
Inspired by the iconic and expressive eyes of anime characters, Anime Lashes brings a touch of drama, flair, and whimsy to your look, transforming your gaze into a work of art.
Anime Lashes are characterized by their bold, dramatic length, exaggerated curl, and similar look to strip lashes with its spikes. Creating a wide-eyed and captivating effect. Whether you're a fan of anime or simply looking to make a statement with your lashes, this trend offers a playful and dynamic twist on traditional lash styles.
Let’s go over some tips to master the trend that is sure to make your clients feel like a character straight out of a popular anime series.
Mapping Tips for Anime Sets:
- As most lash artists do when we’re working with multiple layers and lengths, be sure to map your set before starting.
- Keep in mind that most anime lash sets are 100% spikes, and these spikes should be “closed” spikes where the tips come to a fine point versus “wispy” spikes (like the ones used in angel lash sets) that tend to soften the look you’re trying to create.
-Remember to always alternate between eyes! To ensure balance, first, apply the longer spikes symmetrically and keep the lengths of the spikes in between – short short. You should have the same number of spikes on both eyes, the same lengths placed in the same area on both eyes. Anime sets
require discipline; this style is not as forgiving as the others.
- For the anime set, less is more! Aiming for 100% coverage of the natural lashes will blend all the beautiful spikes you are trying to achieve. Apply small spikes around each longer spike and leave the other lashes bare. I know it’s hard, but try your best to resist the temptation of full coverage for this design.
